A Winding Road...

I’ve landed safe and sound in Tallahassee! Customs was a breeze (because I didn’t wear any jewelry, or a belt, or even bobby pins in my hair), the flights were quick, (I would literally doze off and then be woken up by the flight attendant saying, “prepare for landing.”) and the weather is hot. Yay, for vacations.

PS: Get it? Tallahassee.. Tally… Tally-ho? I’m so punny :P

You may recall from Chapter 1 that I am going to Florida and want to I see my friends while I’m there. I spoke with my two besties about it to see if we could work something out. One goes to school in Gainesville and the other in Tallahassee. That’s driving distance! Kinda?

The result is not ideal. My Tallahassee friend will be there for the summer so that’s not a problem, but my Gainesville friend is in West Palm for the summer. “Well can’t you come up for a weekend? PLEASE?!” I didn’t think it was too much to ask. After all I’m coming from Toronto. Surely she could travel less than halfway to meet me.

Alas.

She has to come up for a wedding a week or two later so it is HIGHLY unlikely that she’ll have the money to take the bus up twice, or that her employer will give her so much time off.

Woe.

Now, I have to decide how to make this trip work for everyone.

One of my friends is brilliant and has been invited to Tampa, Florida for a conference. So of course I am going! Even though I know nothing about sustainable engineering, I will never pass up an opportunity to go home to the Sunshine State.

Now I just have to make all my friends from West Palm get within driving distance of Tampa… Stay tuned to find out how I do it!

Found them! www.playlist.com is great site that I used to use. One song that keeps coming up again and again in my life is Celine Dion’s A New Day Has Come. If my life were a movie, that song would probably play at the end when I (played by Kerry Washington) watch the sunrise from my NYC apartment balcony while sipping a cup of tea. Yeah. My life story is totally Oscar worthy :P
