A Way of Life
[My stupid brother decides to play FIFA 2010 during halftime of the Champions League Final]
Me: Put it back, please.
Brother: I'm almost done!
Me: Are you seriously going to miss the Champions League Final to play video games?
Brother: It's not a video game; it's a way of life.
Brother's friend: Barcelona just scored.
Brother: WHAT?!
Me: *grinning* THAT is a way of life.

The Danger of Traveling
Home becomes really boring.

Memory Card Full
That is by far the worst notification to see on your camera while travelling. I brought my battery charger with me to Quebec City so a “low battery signal” would have been fine. But I had falsely assumed my USB was unnecessary and left it at home. I spent the last two days of the trip trying to delete random pictures fast enough to take new ones. Sigh.
The first thing I did when I...

Quebec City May 2011 - Chapter 2
It’s so cold! I seriously regret taking my thick hoodie out of my luggage. It has been rainy and windy since I arrived. If this keeps up I’ll have very few pictures to post, ‘cause I’ll be damned if I take my hands out of my pockets to hold a camera.

Bathroom Breaks
Usually it is girls, not boys, who go to the washroom in groups. So when packs of 13 year old boys are making a bee line for the bathroom, something is up.
The kids on my trip are taking special souvenirs home. Condoms. A few found the dispensers in the bathrooms and the news spread like wildfire. “They come in different flavors!” one boy said, his voice a mix of shock and wonder....

Montreal... again.
I’m in Montreal again, this time running a three day tour all by myself! I’ll pop in if anything exciting or different happens. Otherwise, there are plenty of pictures in my queue. Talk to you soon!

Montreal May 2011 - Chapter 5
If I learned one thing on this trip it’s don’t eat if you’re not hungry. I am so full. Most of our meals were paid for by the employer or complimentary so I basically stuffed my face at every opportunity. Breakfast was three straight days of eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and french toast drenched in maple syrup. Lunch was generally food court grub or pub fare. Dinner was always...

Montreal May 2011 - Chapter 4
I forgot how much fun grade 8 dances are. The class was small and we had the boat cruise to ourselves so we had free reign to be as silly as we wanted. They danced to old songs, new songs, random house music.
I can’t possibly go through all the funny moments of the trip but I can at least make a list of highlights:
Boy asking the tour guide at the hockey stadium: “Sooo what are you...

Montreal May 2011 - Chapter 3
I’m a Habs fangirl. After the way I acted today, I can’t even deny it. We went to the Montreal Canadiens home arena, the Bell Centre, and I flipped out. It is an absolutely beautiful building for an amazing team. The Hall of Fame is spectacular; as one of the original six, much of the Habs history intersects with NHL history.
I wish I had more time. I could easily have spent another...

Montreal May 2011 - Chapter 2
It’s still raining, but let me tell you the people I’m with have totally brightened my week! For those who are unaware, I’m in Montreal for a training trip for work. So on the trip with are 20 grade 8 students, 1 teacher, 1 other trainee, 1 trainer, and 1 coach driver. Each and every one of them is hilarious. Highlights of the day include the kids trying to teach the teacher how...

Montreal May 2011 - Chapter 1
It’s raining. It rained the whole drive up and all day the first day. As gorgeous as Le Vieux Port de Montreal is, it is NOT fun in the rain. And then the internet in my hotel was on the fritz last night, foiling my plan to Skype with my parents. *sad face*
But the hotel room is HUGE, the pillows are like cotton-candy clouds and I had the best night sleep ever!
Pictures and details of my...

Florida July 2011 - Chapter 2
You may recall from Chapter 1 that I am going to Florida and want to I see my friends while I’m there. I spoke with my two besties about it to see if we could work something out. One goes to school in Gainesville and the other in Tallahassee. That’s driving distance! Kinda?
The result is not ideal. My Tallahassee friend will be there for the summer so that’s not a problem, but...
